I don’t like being a reflective teacher; it would distract me when I have to move on to deal with some other important work.  But sometimes I cannot help but reflect what I did afterwards.  Maybe I am always thinking too much.

Every teacher has their own personal style on the stage.  It is necessary.  But if we as a teacher tried to modify our teaching or teaching style, sometimes it is hard to have some big breakthrough. (at least for me) When we start to have teaching experience, our teaching style would be gradually “fixed” —by our personality or by what we have taught on how to teach.

I just find out I am fixed, or feel comfortable, in a certain way of teaching. That’s terrible. 

Unit One

A lesson plan is a list of what a teacher would prepare for the lesson.  It could be long and detailed, but also could be short and to the point, depending on teachers’ experience in handling a class. 

No matter how it would be, a framework for a lesson in papers or “in mind,” the most important for teachers is to prepare well how to teach a lesson, its aims, study materials, and a state of mind facing different situation, different classes, with different ways. That’s the principles of planning.

ICT (Information, Communication, Technology) of course has its effects on not only teaching but also learning English.  For teachers, it provides a platform making teaching more active and more interesting.   For learners, (include teachers too) ICT also offers lots of information to digest and to absorb themselves.

Yet, teaching English with ICT has precondition.  A part of ICT is “information.”  Before introducing it in class, teachers have to evaluate and to make sure that the information on websites is appropriate and indeed helpful to learners.   Also, how to present the information is another issue— to think beforehand how to make use of ICT and how to give a fluent presentation is necessary.  And this is what I need to learn.

I will provide some other materials other than the textbook or related to it, such as materials specifically on grammar or vocabulary, for students to have a better understanding of what they learn. 

It is also necessary to create an interesting learning environment, because most students feel dull on reading the textbook.  That doesn’t mean they don’t like learning English.  They would like to learn if the materials could spark their interest.  Usually, English songs or movies are good materials in this case.         

I prefer Communicative, Task-based, and Affective humanistic approaches.   These three approaches could combine together in an effective way of teaching English. 

By Combining Communciative with Task-based approaches, students will have a context or a task; in this context they are also required to communicate, or learn to communicate, by using the target language.  

Affective humanistic is important too.  It is in a comfortable and active atmosphere that students will have potential to get into the context.
